Call of Duty: Vanguard will feature some new and returning Field Upgrades available to use in Multiplayer. Field Upgrades are tactical abilities that recharge throughout the match and have variable recharge times based on how strong the Field Upgrade is.

Here are all the Field Upgrades that can be equipped:

  • Supply Box — Deploys a box of ammo and equipment for you and your teammates (Recharge Rate: Fast)Goliath — Small remote-controlled bomb on tracks. Controllable for 30 seconds, after which it explodes. Goliaths can be detonated before the timer runs out too. (Recharge Rate: Slow)Dead Silence — Temporarily makes footsteps silent and makes you undetectable to Spy Planes, enemy intel, and Field Mics. Gun, melee, and knife kills refresh duration. (Recharge Rate: Fast)Deployable Cover — Rapid deploy a ballistics cover (Recharge Rate: Fast)Armor Plates — Equip body armor, preventing damage to torso until destroyed (Recharge Rate: Slow)Field Mic — Reveals nearby enemy movement on the mini-map (Recharge Rate: Medium)Tactical Insertion — Marks a location for your next spawn point. Does not have effect in one-life modes. (Recharge Rate: Medium)Dead Drop — Records your current killstreak and awards it back upon next respawn. (Recharge Rate: Fast)

Goliath, Armor Plates, and Dead Drop are especially interesting Field Upgrades because they are new and have unique uses. The Goliath is powerful, which is why it has a slow recharge speed. However, players will be able to do a lot of damage with it a few times in a regular match. The Armor Plates can be a hit or miss, depending on what an enemy does. It can give a valuable health boost, but if an enemy does not hit the torso or can shoot a large number of rounds before you respond, the Armor Plates are less useful. The Dead Drop is a very useful field upgrade, especially for players who can go on long streaks.
