One of the core aspects of the Pokémon series is Gym Leaders and challenging them one by one to become the Pokémon League Champion. While this is a core staple of Pokémon, each generation sees new Gym Leaders. This may leave you wondering about the Gym Leaders in the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

All Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Gym Leaders

Pokémon Gyms work differently in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet due to the open-world aspects of the titles. As a result, you can challenge Gym Leaders in any order you want, rather than the typical linear fashion the series is known for. We have listed all known Gym Leaders for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet below and will update this guide with more information when available.

Brassius – Grass Gym Leader

Brassius is the Gym Leader of Artazon town and specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. Artazon Town is full of flowers and art, reflected in Brassius’ style. He deceptively uses Sudowoodo, a Rock-type Pokémon that appears to be a Grass-type. You will want to bring Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Bug-type Pokémon against him.

Grusha – Ice Gym Leader

Grusha is a professional snowboarder turned Gym Leader of the Glaseado Gym. His signature Pokémon is Cetitan, the Ice-type whale Pokémon. You will want to bring Fire, Steel, Rock, or Fighting-type Pokémon when challenging Grusha.

Iono – Electric Gym Leader

Iono is a bubbly streamer and influencer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Her gym uses Electric-type Pokémon, and her partner Pokémon is Bellibolt. You will want to use Ground-type Pokémon against Iono and her gym, or bring some Electric, Grass, and Dragon-type Pokémon for resistance.

What Pokémon types will be Scarlet and Violet Gym Leaders?

While we don’t know what the remaining Gym types will be in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we can make some guesses based on previous Pokémon titles. Here are the number of Pokémon types used in Gyms across the Pokémon series, not counting Grand Trials seen in the Pokémon Sun and Moon games.

Going off these numbers, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may go two ways with the remaining Gym Leaders. We could see the most common types be used again, meaning the remaining Gym Leaders will use Water, Electric, Fire, Fighting, Ice, or Rock-type Pokémon. Or, the remaining Gym Leaders will use the least common types: Dark, Fairy, Ground, Normal, Poison, and Steel-type Pokémon.
