Horizon Forbidden West is the latest entry in the popular Horizon franchise from Guerrilla Games, and Aloy’s back to save the world again. On her journey to defeat and overcome hordes of sentient machines as she makes her way through the Forbidden West, Aloy will need various tools to take down enemies, each lying in a different class.
We’ve listed all the available weapon classes in Horizon Forbidden West that we’ve uncovered thus far.
Hunter Bows
Aloy’s primary weapon is her Hunter Bow, a mid-range weapon that’s easy to handle and highly versatile. While this weapon doesn’t excel in any area, it’s an incredibly balanced tool great for almost any situation. It’s sure to be the most reliable tool in Aloy’s kit during her journey.
Warrior Bows
Warrior bows excel at close-range combat, capable of dealing impactful blows even before fully drawn. It’s an excellent tool for those who want to deal with their enemies up close, and they can be life-savers when Aloy needs to get a quick shot off.
Sharpshot Bows
The Sharpshot bow is a highly-accurate long-range weapon that deals with increased Impact and Tear damage. These weapons excel at ranged combat and will rip machines apart. The drawback of this tool is the slow draw speed and inability to function while moving, and you’ll need to plant yourself in one position to make the best use of this weapon.
Blastslings
Blastslings are medium to long-range weapons that deal severe damage to machines and can create a series of elemental effects on impact. These weapons are great for dealing splash damage in an area around an enemy. These weapons are not capable of ripping pieces off of machines like other tools but provide a distinct advantage for players aiming to incapacitate foes quickly.
Trip Casters
Trip Casters set Tripwires that damage enemies as they cross by. These weapons are perfect for those aiming to set up a trap before a battle. Aloy can only place a few Tripwires at once, so be careful where you put them.
Ropecasters
The Ropecaster is a support weapon that can anchor airborne machines and plant them in place temporarily. Aloy must fully charge this weapon to place a charge into its target, meaning you’ll need to give yourself time to prep this weapon. Use this tool to subdue an enemy when overwhelmed on the battlefield.
Spike Throwers
Spike Throwers are potent weapons that excel at damaging larger targets from medium and long-range. Despite their large size, they’re easy to handle but require a full charge to throw and penetrate enemy armor. This charge does take time, leaving Aloy vulnerable to attacks, which is why it’s recommended for use farther out from targets.
Boltblasters
Boltblasters are Horizon Forbidden West’s machine gun equivalent. These weapons sport a high rate of fire and deal significant damage at any range. These weapons are perfect for those aiming to dole out damage in a hurry. Their biggest weakness is their inability to tear off machine components. This weapon is also weighty, hindering Aloy’s mobility.
Shredder Gauntlets
If you’re looking for a weapon that only gets stronger as the fight progresses, the Shredder Gauntlet might be for you. Aloy chucks spinning disks at her foes, returning to the gauntlet after tearing through armor. Charging the shot ensures that the pucks slice enemies longer before returning to her. Shredder Gauntlets inflict the most Tear damage and the game and excel at removing machine parts.
