Deadline is reporting today that producer Kirk Shaw is launching an ambitious new intellectual property acquisition and development fund by the name of Ambitious Entertainment. Partnering with Impossible Dream Entertainment and the likes of such notable producers as Yvette Yates Redick and Shaun Redick. One of their first productions involves a Gunnar.

Gunnar Hansen played Leatherface in the 1974 eternal classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which was a hell of a production. You can actually read about the hellish production in Hansen’s book; Chain Saw Confidential. As a die-hard The Texas Chain Saw Massacre fan, I, unfortunately, have not read his book. Although I have read most of Joseph Lanza’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Film That Terrified a Rattled Nation. That book gives a ton of context as far as what was going on with teens in the 70’s and what was going on with Tobe Hooper, Kim Henkel, and the amazing cast on location. Ambitious Entertainment better do them all justice.
Hansen’s book is being developed by Ambitious Entertainment with David Dubos turning the book, smartly I may add, into a dark comedy. There’s no word as of yet on plot details or anything specific, but executive producer Robert Abramoff hopes to get moving along with the casting. I wonder who’s gonna play Leatherface/Gunnar Hansen?
More TCSM Please, Ambitious Entertainment, or Anyone For That Matter
There seems to be a newly lit fervor for one of my favorite film characters of all time, Leatherface. Even though the takes on the franchise aren’t what I would hope for. Now, I’m not saying that I have a premise for a direct sequel to the 1974 version that focuses solely on Bubba lusting for revenge after a bunch of teenagers showed up at his place, unannounced, just to completely wreck his home. Killing his grandpa in the process. I just hope no one from Ambitious Entertainment is reading this article…
Jokes aside, are you excited about this film? Let us know!
