In the last few years, graphics cards have become something comparable to a legendary Pokemon, you’re rarely going to find one, but even if you do, you won’t be able to catch it. But things might finally be looking up as AMD and its competitors reduce the prices of essential gaming hardware.
According to a report by PCGamesN, AMD will be reducing the prices of some of its products, namely the Ryzen 5 series, and the Radeon 6000 series of graphics cards.
The discounts are currently available in the US, UK, and some other countries at specific retailers. Now would be the perfect time for an upgrade if you somehow managed to wait out the extreme silicone shortage and crypto uptick, especially if you wanted to go team red all the way.
Why Are Component Costs Plummeting Now?
Rumors had been floating around that Nvidia might be cutting the prices for its high-end graphics cards as well, the 3080 and 3090, to be specific. And this might have been a contributing factor as to why AMD has chosen this to be the right time to reduce its prices.
But probably the most likely reason for the price drops is that the next generation of graphics cards is right around the corner, not only for AMD and Nvidia but Intel as well. The AMD RDNA3 lineup will be revealed in October this year, and Nvidia’s 4000 series is set to be shown around that time too. So now is the only time to get rid of the old stock before people start holding off for the next generation.
