Following on from its release last month, Amnesia: Rebirth mod tools have been added via Steam Workshop. The horror game has already received much praise from critics. Having been out in the wild for a few weeks, this feels like a good time for mods to be added. With brave players managing to get through the length of the story (presumably hidden behind a pillow), these mod tools will allow content creators to add new mechanics and baddies to keep things spicy. We may even see whole new levels and stories!

While Amnesia: Rebirth mod tools are very exciting, it’s pretty slim-picking right now. There aren’t any new monsters, total rehauls, or the inevitable goofy mods we’ll no doubt see. Currently, all that’s available is a handful of minor fixes and tweaks. A safe-mode so you can focus on exploration without worrying about baddies is the most interesting entry so far. Given the scope of mods we saw for Amnesia: The Dark Descent, we have a lot to look forwards to!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was a fantastic game and stayed relevant far beyond its natural lifespan. This was largely due to the growing popularity of streamers at the time. It turned out that people are enthusiastic about watching streamers get scared senseless live! These streamers found a large audience by playing through the most devilishly spooky of custom maps. With the new Amnesia: Rebirth mod tools, developer Frictional Games is hoping to tap into this audience again. As a fan myself of horror games, but one too scared to actually play them, I’ll add myself to the list of people hoping to see lively streamer activity for this game!
