Horror fans have been holding their breath since Frictional Games, the creators behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA, teased a new project earlier this week. Friday morning, the developers announced that Amnesia: Rebirth is set to release in Fall 2020 on PC and PlayStation 4.

Amnesia: Rebirth is the direct sequel to much-beloved The Dark Descent, but it will focus on a new character, Tasi Trianon:

Retracing Tasi’s journey and pulling together the fragments of a shattered past will be the only chance to survive the pitiless horror that threatens to devour you. Time is against you. Still, you must continue, step by step, knowing that if you fail you will lose everything.

In their press release, Frictional Games didn’t go much further than explaining the plot, but they did warn that Amnesia: Rebirth would be “challenging players to remain calm in the face of unimaginable terror.” How they could get more terrifying than that water-filled hallway, I don’t know, but… Rebirth is sure to be a new monster.

This sequel comes ten years after Amnesia: The Dark Descent’s original release in 2010. Another Amnesia title, A Machine for Pigs, was released in 2013 but was developed by The Chinese Room. In 2016, the entire collection was brought onto PlayStation 4 and is currently on sale for $5.99.

Amnesia: Rebirth is scheduled to release in Fall 2020 on PC and PlayStation 4.
