An analyst firm believes a 2016 release date for the Nintendo NX console could be a huge mistake as the video game market will be embracing the newly released VR headsets instead.

MCV UK reports that analyst firm, DFC, is warning Nintendo not to release the Nintendo NX console in the calendar year of 2016. They feel the console will fail thanks to the release of the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.

DFC stated: “Nintendo launching a new system in 2016 would be a mistake and under any scenario the Nintendo NX will not have an impact on the market until late 2017”

DFC believes the PS4 will still be the strongest console performer in 2016. They also went on to say the release of the three VR headsets will have a negative impact on the existing Wii U and Xbox One consoles.

Analysts aren’t always right, but it’s interesting to listen to their opinions. A lot of analysts are predicting that VR will be the future of the video game industry. DFC in particular feel gamers will save their money for a VR headset instead of a Nintendo NX console if all of them come out in 2016.

However, analysts could be proven wrong. Many of them believed the PS4 and Xbox One wouldn’t perform well with many people playing video games on tablets and smartphones now. Fast forward to today, and both consoles are selling faster than their predecessors….
