NPD reports this month will be the first to include the new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hardware in their data.  Wedbush analyst, Michael Pachter, has issued his forecast for the data.  The analyst believes that the PlayStation 4 will see higher sales than the Xbox One, with Sony selling 1.25 million PS4 consoles, and Microsoft selling around 750,000 Xbox Ones.

“We expect hardware sales of 1.25 million PS4 units and 750,000 Xbox One units in their debut month,” says the preview report from Pachter.

The preview numbers sound to be in-line with expectations, considering that the Xbox One launched across a number of different territories outside of North America, and a week later than Sony.

The real alarming news coming out of the report, is that the Wii U has failed to capture the attention of shoppers, even with this its impressive line-up of games now available on the system.  Compared to the Xbox One and PS4, the Wii U is said to have sold only 150,000 units in November.
