Animal Crossing: New Horizons was a welcome distraction during COVID quarantine. News of St. Patrick’s Day items and a Super Mario crossover have recently delighted fans, but now there is more news! This Fall, an Animal Crossing manga, Deserted Island Diary, will be hitting shelves with an English translation!
Earlier this week, Viz Media announced the new manga series on their Twitter. Deserted Island Diary “will focus on the villagers that live on your islands when you’re not around. The comedy manga will feature goofs about a variety of different villagers, as well as tips on how to be a great island representative.”
There are many Animal Crossing manga spinoffs, but Deserted Island Diary is the first that will be translated into English. The official Twitter page for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released a handful of four-panel comics about the Nook Family last year; there was also an anime film, Animal Crossing: The Movie, released in 2006. So, the franchise is not stranger to manga and anime mediums.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Vol. 1 Deserted Island Diary will be released in English from Viz Media on September 21st, 2021. This series is currently ongoing, and volumes will be released twice a month.
