Ever feel like your iPhone is lacking, not in technology or apps, but from the positivity of Animal Crossing?  That issue is no longer is over, thanks to a new update that allows you to transform your iPhone into an island life Animal Crossing Nook Phone. With Apple’s newest update for iPhone, iOS 14, widgets, and a new app library help refresh the general look of the iPhone.  You can now also create shortcuts for apps, and add those shortcuts with custom icons to your home screen.

A Real-Life Animal Crossing Nook Phone in your Pocket

Thanks to these custom app shortcuts, you can change the look of the apps on your phone.  Graphic designer and illustrator okpng created special Animal Crossing images that work specifically for use with the shortcuts.  There are two sets available, that each come with an assortment of themed icons and wallpapers.

After purchasing the sets, you must add the images to your phone.  Then in the Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut with the Open App command and select an app.  From there, select the three dots in the corner, change the name and photo to your preference, and select add to the home screen.  There you have it, custom Nook Phone apps!

People that have played Animal Crossing New Horizons will be familiar with some of the icons, which come right from the game.  Others have been designed for specific apps but with an Animal Crossing flair.  Whether that is a stylish music app icon with KK Slider or a bells bag for your bank of choice, these icons are fun and truly make your iPhone feel like it’s from the game.

There are some downsides to using this method of custom app shortcuts.  The apps will not show any notifications and you cannot use 3D touch.  A minor headache is that when you select an app, it will first launch the Shortcuts app before opening the app you selected. Hopefully, Apple will make a fix for this soon. For those that are fine with those drawbacks though, you’ll find love with the aesthetic bliss of your new iPhone.
