Developer Eggnut and publisher Raw Fury announce that the noir adventure game Backbone will launch on PC on June 8th, 2021. Raw Fury posted the announcement on their Youtube Channel early May 26th.

What is Backbone?

Backbone has been in development for the past five years. Players must assume the identity of raccoon detective Howard Lector. The private investigator explores the gritty underbelly of Vancouver. Eventually, Howard takes on a job that changes his perspective of everything. Because of this, he must reevaluate his life and career. In his reevaluation, he must then tackle the oppressive, systemic power of the city itself.

The setting of Backbone allows players to explore an alternate and reimagined version of Vancouver, British Colombia, told all through high-resolution pixel art. Eggnut has called the game a “modern take” on adventure games. Other features of the game include interacting with other anthropomorphic animals on the streets and an original jazz-inspired soundtrack.
