Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse, evil has descended in the form of a terrifying Raggedy Ann doll. The Annabelle doll, made famous by the films in The Conjuring universe, set the paranormal world aflame. News of her supposed escape from the home of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators who locked the demonic doll away, made waves across the internet and social media early Friday.

Not to worry though! Your souls are safe, because this was just a prank.

Some internet prankster took to the doll’s Wikipedia page earlier today and updated it with this startling anecdote, “The Annabelle doll escaped on August 14th, 2020, at 3:00 AM in the Warren’s occult museum in Monroe, Connecticut, United States.” As of this writing, the update to the page has been taken down, but not before people could rush to social media platforms with various memes about Anabelle’s escape.

For those of you who may not know, Anabelle is not just a horrifying nightmare created for The Conjuring universe. She is a very real presence. The controversial investigators found Annabelle in the 70’s after the doll troubled two nursing students. Story has it that the doll is possessed by the spirit of a young girl who lashed out angrily and violently. The Warren’s were so afraid of the doll’s power that they locked her behind glass.
