Once again we have a situation where a highly anticipated game has had its release date possibly leaked by a retailer. This time the game is Red Dead Redemption 2, whose release date has been posted as October 3rd on a Polish retailer’s website. This is definitely a rumor, as the site has scrubbed the release date from the site and denied that they have revealed anything confidential, but the date does line up with what could be the real Red Dead Redemption 2 release date, and what we’ve seen from retailers before.
The possible leak was first spotted by Polish website CD Action, which noticed that Media Market had labeled Red Dead Redemption 2 for an October 3rd release date. Shortly after sharing the information the listing was altered to remove the date. Could this be the real deal?
No one knows yet, but it does fit with a lot of what you’d expect about the game’s final release date. First off, October 3rd is a Tuesday, which is the day that most games are released in the US and in many other countries. It also fits with the late 2017 release date that has been set by Rockstar themselves.
What’s funny is that a competing leak hit the UK earlier that put Red Dead Redemption 2 as hitting on September 26th. This also fits into a Tuesday release schedule, so either could be correct. Only being a week apart, this does actually sort of help make the rumors more believable, with the game perhaps releasing in a staggered way across the globe.
Whether they pan out or not, this does seem like the time when most players should expect to see Red Dead Redemption 2 hit PS4 and Xbox One. There’s still no word on a PC release, which has been delayed or skipped entirely by Rockstar before. Fans have been dying to get the first RDR on PC, so now would be a great time to see them remaster it.
