Kathryn Newton, star of the upcoming Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, has teased an appearance of her character’s superhero alter ego, Stature. Disney held an Investor’s Day presentation on Thursday, showcasing a ton of upcoming Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, and Pixar projects. One such project Marvel superstar producer Kevin Feige spoke of was the third Ant-Man movie. Firstly, he informed us of that awesome new title. Secondly, he confirmed Jonathan Majors’ casting as the film’s villain, Kang the Conqueror, and broke the news of Kathryn Newton’s casting as Cassie Lang.

As pointed out by ScreenRant, Newton posted the Ant-Man clip from Feige’s presentation on Instagram the following day. She also stated, “Last night I dreamed of being a superhero” and included #STATURE with the post. This seemingly confirms her character’s transformation into her superhero alter ego, although nothing has been confirmed by Marvel. In the comics, Cassie gained size-changing powers through intentional and repeated exposure to Pym Particles. She took the name Stature and joined the Young Avengers, though she has gone by other names. It’s possible her career as a superhero could be hinted at in Quantumania rather than outright shown.

Cassie’s Film History & The Young Avengers

Even without her Instagram tease, Newton’s casting alone could have pointed to Stature’s appearance. Abby Ryder Fortson played Cassie in the first two Ant-Man films. But she was too young to take on that role. The five-year time jump seen in Avengers: Endgame made it more plausible. Here, Emma Fuhrmann played her in two scenes. But Marvel likely would want a bigger name for more substantial screen time. Newton has been rising in popularity having starred in the horror comedy Freaky, Detective Pikachu, and HBO’s Big Little Lies. Also, a piece of concept art from Ant-Man & The Wasp got fans speculating that Stature would make an appearance soon.

Additionally, Marvel seems to be gearing up for live-action Young Avengers. Stature isn’t the only member we know is coming. The Hawkeye Disney+ series will introduce Kate Bishop. Kang the Conqueror is directly linked to Nathaniel Richards AKA Iron Lad, another member. There is also the upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. While Ms. Marvel was never a member of the Young Avengers, she would fit in nicely. And she was a member of the regular Avengers before forming her own team of young heroes, the Champions. Another member of the Champions, Ironheart, also has a Disney+ series in development.
