Losing your progress in a video game is never fun. Alternatively, it’s infinitely worse when your progression is not only lost but also beyond your power to retrieve it. Apex Legends players on PS4 had recently met a similar fate when many logged in only to discover their account level had reset to 1.

This Apex Legends “account reset bug” is allegedly just one of a few significant issues that have been affecting some of EA’s most popular titles. Respawn Entertainment has noted the problem and is currently in the process of fixing it.

“Rip to all my cosmetics. All that time getting event and battle pass skins wasted.”

“[I] lost all my battle pass progression and I was only 5 levels away from being done.”

We’re investigating reports of some @playapex players losing unlocks after changing the email associated with their EA account.

A similar bug is affecting account progress for PS4 players. We’ve asked support teams to escalate these reports.

Will report back with updates!

While the progress loss is likely temporary, players are more concerned about what is happening to their Apex accounts. Many stated their accounts lost everything due to the reset, including their Battle Pass Level. Some have claimed that even their cosmetics had disappeared.

Thankfully, Respawn has updated their progress on the situation:

For players whose data was on the affected database shard, we will be restoring their progress to a backup from April 5 at ~18:00 UTC

While the chaos seems to be arriving at its conclusion, it would be an absolute shame if PS4 Apex players affected by this bug had permanently lost their in-game progress following April 5. Hopefully, the lost progress will be swiftly restored, along with player compensation for this hiccup.
