While Apex Legends’ major updates are somewhat infrequent with three-month wait times, the team likes to sprinkle in lighter content in the in-between to keep fans interested. Whether this takes the form of changes to the weapon rotation, a new Arenas map here and there, or a fresh event, fans tend to get excited to hop in and enjoy some free content regardless. On January 11, that successful trend shall continue as Apex Legends heads to the sea with its newest Dark Depths event, introducing a new Arenas map, a fresh set of cosmetics, and more! You can check out the trailer for the update below.
The Dark Depths event brings the brand new Habitat map to Apex Legends’ fan-favorite mode Arenas. Taking place on the furthest beaches of the new Storm Point map, legends will duke it out for both the high and low ground while perhaps getting a little sand between their toes. Be ready to face several potential sightlines for the enemy squad to take, elevations to go, and plenty of water of course.
When dashing through this new Arenas map though, you can score yourself some limited-time outfits for Ash, Horizon, Lifeline, and Fuze. The last of those outfits is particularly interesting, with Fuze donning a rocket that’s strangely reminiscent of Jinx’s rocket from League of Legends. You can expect plenty of other cosmetics alongside it though, with the trailer showing a new kill animation for Fuze where he helps his opponent up, only to head bash them for the kill.
You can start scoring these cosmetics in Apex Legends next Tuesday, with the event running until February 1. If you’d like more specifics, including what other cosmetics you can expect to see when jumping in on Tuesday, check out the official website.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
