Newsflash: Apple’s iOS 15 is out now. The new operating system succeeds the critically acclaimed iOS 14 and iOS 14.5. And starting June 30, you can install a public beta version of the OS, providing you have a compatible iPhone. What’s more, the full version is expected to roll out this Fall. And that’s about the same time the iPhone 13 is launching.

What Are the New Features?

Apple says the “iOS 15 is packed with new features that help you connect with others. [They also help you] explore the world, and use powerful intelligence to do more with [your] iPhone than ever before”.

So what are the new features? They include SharePlay (which allows you to “share experiences inside FaceTime”), Live Text (a text scanning tool), and an improved Focus mode. In fact, Apple Music, Apple Maps, Safari, and others are all getting a facelift on iOS 15.

Apple’s iOS 15: Built for Users and Developers Alike

Apple is known for its strong focus on users. But the iOS 15 is as much developer-centric as it is user-centric. Apple’s website states that with iOS 15, developers can “improve the discovery of [their] app(s) on the App Store. [Also, developers] can provide better in-app purchase experiences, and more with the latest capabilities for apps.”

With these new features, iOS 15 is set to be a gamechanger in the mobile operating system industry. Moreover, besides iOS 15, Apple is also rolling out a new iPad OS in iPadOS 15, and a new watch OS in WatchOS 15. Currently, these operating systems are also only available in beta versions and are open to all.

However, as a rule of thumb, try not to rush things with the new OS’. It’s best to wait for the full versions so you don’t have to deal with bugs. But if you simply can’t wait to try out the new OS on your iPhone, knock yourself out with the public beta.
