Aquaman is doing very well at the box office and has received some commendable praise. DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee can safely be counted among the praise-givers, as he’s sent Director James Wan some action figures and a note as congratulations. The 41-year-old filmmaker shared the congratulations on his social media.

The note from Jim Lee read: “James! Congratulations on making Aquaman such an amazing badass. It’s going to be awesome seeing how your incarnation and vision of the character brings in waves of new, excited fans into the world of Aquaman and the DC universe!”

Alongside that of course, were the action figures. They consisted of lifelike replicas of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Amber Heard’s Mera and one of Black Manta’s soldiers. A pretty nifty gift, when all’s said and done!

Wan was clearly excited by Lee’s praise for Aquaman, claiming that the artist was “one of [his] idols growing up” and thanking him for the kind words.

Christmas gifts from one of my idols growing up @JimLee. Never thought I would ever meet Jim, let alone get this amazing note from him. Thank You so much, sir ? #Aquaman #DC pic.twitter.com/mN0jkjgRi2

Jim Lee responded in kind, saying,

A further tweet had the DC legend complement Wan’s “imagination, passion and drive” in making Aquaman.

The movie has passed the $600 billion mark, aiming for an eventual $1 billion. The movie earned $22 million on Christmas Day, earning it the sixth spot of top-grossing movies released on December 25th. Merry Christmas, indeed.

Part of the reason for the film’s success can be attributed to its appeal to both men and women. The appeal to women cannot solely be reliant on the hunk that is Jason Momoa (although he couldn’t have hurt things). Viral online promotions such as Nicole Kidman’s ‘Aquamom’ and Amber Heard’s Mera being targeted to Hispanic women also played a role.
