December 21 is Assassin’s Creed day and to celebrate Ubisoft has announced that it is working on a 60FPS update for Assassin’s Creed Origins, the first of the new breed of Assassin’s Creed games. The announcement comes after Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the successor to Origins, received a 60fps update on PS5 and Xbox Series X in August. Check out the 60FPS gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey below.

The news that Ubisoft is working on a 60FPS update for Origins will be welcomed by next-gen fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The recent games in the series have wowed PC gamers and, despite the extra power, PS5 and Xbox Series X owners still haven’t been able to experience the games in all their glory. It’s also nice to see a developer providing these types of quality of life updates for their games long after sequels have been released.

Ubisoft’s full announcement was as follows, “We are also looking into adding 60FPS support for Assassin’s Creed Origins, so stay tuned!” It isn’t clear when the developer plans to provide the 60FPS update. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s update was announced and released the next day so there isn’t exactly a template to work off of in terms of when to expect the update for Origins.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the latest game in the series, is also receiving a plethora of updates. The Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris expansions already released this year and Ubisoft has announced the year two content for the game. For year two, Ubisoft already released Assassin’s Creed Stories which is a crossover of Odyssey and Valhalla. The next major expansion Dawn of Ragnarok arrives in March and is said to be a massive 35-hour expansion to the game. The expansion is said to be taking inspiration from the most recent God of War game.

There’s no release date for the Assassin’s Creed Origins 60FPS update but Dawn of Ragnarok will release for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on March 10, 2022.
