The latest Assassin’s Creed adventure is right at our doorsteps, and instead of roaming around the entirety of Greece, we instead go to Norway, the land of the Vikings, and then to England! Ubisoft has changed the healing mechanic in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s not like it is in the rest of the other games; no longer will health automatically regen outside of combat!
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: How to Heal
To heal in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you must use healing items, as health will not regenerate outside of combat anymore. Instead, Eivor can use many healing items that come in many forms and benefits to get their health back up to full!
Healing outside of combat has always been an Assassin’s Creed staple. Of course, during fights, you can heal yourself, but if you win, there is no consequence, but in AC Valhalla, there is a consequence and entering a fight with no health isn’t a good thing!
The ways of healing in the game are the following:
- Sleeping Sleeping allows you to heal back up to full health, no matter how injured you are. However, this is not like Skyrim, where you can sleep in any bed, more or less. You can only sleep in your settlement. Food As you explore the lands of Norway and New England, you’ll come across berries and mushrooms that can be foraged for food. When interacting with these types of food, you will automatically gain some health, but you will fill up your Rations bag. Fishing Once you begin to create and upgrade your settlement, you can build a Fisherman’s Hut, which unlocks the fishing rod! With the fishing rod equipped, this allows Eivor to catch fish. When a fish has been caught, you can consume this fish for health or, if at full health - store it in your Rations bag. However, you can catch this without the fishing rod, as you can dive into the water and catch the fish the old fashioned way Mono e mono! In other terms, melee the fish! Rations When foraging for food or fishing, this will automatically fill the Ration bag when at full health. These Rations can then be used at any time by pressing right on the D-Pad. It’s best to save these Rations for emergencies, as the health recovered by Rations is more than any other method.
These are the only ways at present to be able to heal Eivor, and as we said, it’s a complete change to the healing system we’ve grown accustomed to over the history of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. This new mechanic makes it necessary always to keep your Ration bag full, though generally, it won’t be that hard as you explore New England. Just make sure after killing entire villages to stop and pick for berries!
